STEPHENVILLE -
After being named the No. 4 seed in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament, Tarleton will begin its postseason journey in a rematch of last season's LSC Championship rematch against Incarnate Word - the No. 5 seed.

Tarleton swept the regular season series against Incarnate Word with a 78-71 win in San Antonio and an 88-74 victory in Stephenville last month. The TexAnns have won seven straight against UIW and haven't lost to the Cardinals since Nov. 15, 2008 - 53-77 in San Antonio.

Against UIW at neutral locations, Tarleton is 2-2 all-time - winning the very first neutral location meeting of the series 84-36 in 1980 and the last one 48-44 in last year's LSC Championship. Under head coach Ronnie Hearne, Tarleton is 9-3 against Incarnate Word.

Postseason Awards

For the first time in school history, Tarleton has the LSC Women's Player of the Year - junior center Kiara Wright.

Wright averaged a double-double for the TexAnns and was named the conference Player of the Year Tuesday night. She also earned the Co-Defensive Player of the Year award and first-team all-conference while Peyton Adamson was named second-team all-conference and academic all-conference.

Last Time Out

The TexAnns lost its regular season finale as West Texas A&M rallied in the final five minutes to overtake Tarleton 67-62 on senior night in the First United Bank Center. Kiara Wright recorded a double-double in the outing to give her a double-double against every LSC team in her career.

Tarleton in Allen

Last season was the first postseason tournament in Allen and one the TexAnns will certainly never forget. Tarleton went 3-0 en route to its first LSC Tournament Championship in Allen last season and had three players - Peyton Adamson, Kiara Wright and Shanae Lowrance - earn All-Tournament team honors.

Wright, Adamson in Allen

Two of last season's three TexAnns on the all-tournament team will make their return to the Allen Event Center Thursday.

Kiara Wright and Peyton Adamson were named to the team with Adamson earning MVP honors. Wright averages 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in her career at the Allen Event Center while Adamson is averaging 14.6 points in her LSC postseason career.

No Seniors in Sight

The TexAnns do not have a single senior on the current roster. This is the first time Tarleton has been senior-less since the 1995-96 season.

Closing in on 1,000 career points

Kiara Wright and Peyton Adamson are now on the verge of becoming the 21st and 22nd players in the school history to join the 1,000 point club.

Wright current has 975 career points while Peyton Adamson has tallied 838 points in her career. Adamson's older sister, Shelby, is on the list and currently the fourth-leading scorer in school history and the school's all-time NCAA scorer with 1,544.

Stepping into new roles

Since the loss of Shanae Lowrance and Karli Moore to injury, the TexAnns have undergone significant changes to the lineup with unexpected results. Cheyenne Berry, Keyra Johnson, Erin Sims and Meagan O'Dell have all been subject to change.

Berry has stepped into the starting lineup at the forward position and has been a steady replacement in the paint, scoring 8.6 points and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game (she was at 7.5 ppg and 3.8 rpg prior to the injuries.)

Johnson stepped into the 'sixth man' role off the bench while Sims and O'Dell have seen unexpected playing time in the paint.

Sims was averging 1.6 ppg and 1.9 rpg over the first 13 games and since seeing her playing time increased has averaged 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game over the last eight games. O'Dell, a guard in high school, has moved to the paint and given Tarleton much needed minutes in the post.

Looking Ahead for Tarleton
