ALLEN - Tarleton has advanced to the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament semifinals for the second straight season and will play the regular-season co-champion Midwestern State Mustangs with a trip to the championship game on the line.

Midwestern State took both games from Tarleton this season, earning a 78-71 overtime win in Wichita Falls in January and a 71-63 win over Tarleton in Stephenville. These two teams have only met on neutral ground three times in their 33-year history. The last time Tarleton and Midwestern played on a neutral location, MSU won 65-52 on Feb. 25, 1990.

Under head coach Ronnie Hearne, Tarleton is 14-4 against the Mustangs with a 14-game winning streak sandwiched inbetween back-to-back losses.

Postseason Awards
For the first time in school history, Tarleton has the LSC Women's Player of the Year - junior center Kiara Wright.
Wright averaged a double-double for the TexAnns and was named the conference Player of the Year Tuesday night. She also earned the Co-Defensive Player of the Year award and first-team all-conference while Peyton Adamson was named second-team all-conference and academic all-conference.

Last Time Out
Led by a historic night from Kiara Wright, Tarleton withstood a vicious second-half rally by Incarnate Word to hold on for a 74-56 win the LSC Quarterfinals. Wright scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for TexAnns, as well as forcing seven steals, to lead the way for Tarleton.

Tarleton in Allen
Last season was the first postseason tournament in Allen and one the TexAnns will certainly never forget. Tarleton went 3-0 en route to its first LSC Tournament Championship in Allen last season and had three players - Peyton Adamson, Kiara Wright and Shanae Lowrance - earn All-Tournament team honors.

Double-Doubles at a Premium
Kiara Wright has recorded a double-double in 12 straight games following her 30-point, 20-rebound effort against UIW. The last time she failed to record one was Jan. 19 against West Texas A&M. She also has 35 career double-doubles, 22 this season - which leads the nation - and at least one career double-double against every member of the Lone Star Conference.

No Seniors in Sight
The TexAnns do not have a single senior on the current roster. This is the first time Tarleton has been senior-less since the 1995-96 season.

The 1,000 Point Club
Kiara Wright scored her 1,000th career point at Tarleton with a layup at the 17:06 mark of the second half Thursday night to make her the 21st member of Tarleton's 1,000 point club. She is also just the fourth player in school history to have 1,000 career points and 800 career rebounds. Only two players have ever notched a 1,000-1,000 career. Peyton Adamson is now next in line to become the 22nd player in the school history to join the 1,000 point club. Adamson has tallied 850 points in her career. Adamson's older sister, Shelby, is on the list and currently the fourth-leading scorer in school history and the school's all-time NCAA scorer with 1,544.

30-point performances
Tarleton has had three 30-point efforts this season after going almost 12 years since the last one - Shea Kester (36) vs National Christian, Dec. 13, 2001. Kiara Wright scored a career-high 34 points on Jan. 23 against Texas Woman's while Peyton Adamson recorded her career-high 30 points last Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Wright added her second 30-point effort last night with 30 against UIW in the LSC Quarterfinals. They join Saresa Butler (30), Jana Skelton (34, 34), Misty Wilson (33, 33), Kester (36) and Tarleton Hall of Famer Rachelle Bowen (30, 49, 30, 32) to crack the 30-point plateau.
