LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton's offense struggled in their trip to Denton Monday night as the TexAnns shot just 34 percent from the field, 20 percent from the 3-point line and 63 percent from the free throw line as the Pioneers led all the way in a 64-59 Tarleton loss.
SERIES HISTORY
The TexAnns and Mustangs have met 57 times since 1980 with Tarleton trailing the all-time series 25-32. Midwestern State controlled the series through the 2005 year before the TexAnns began their run of dominance over MSU. Midwestern State won 28 of the first 38 meetings against Tarleton but a 55-52 TexAnn win on Dec. 20, 2005 started a string of 15 wins in 19 games against MSU, including the 57-51 win earlier this season.
STAYING IN THE NATIONAL RANKS
Despite dropping three of their last five games, Tarleton State remains in the national spotlight by checking in at No. 21 in the lastest USA Today/ESPN Division II National rankings.
THE BIG 5-0 FOR WRIGHT
Tarleton's All-American center,
Kiara Wright, recorded the 50th double-double of her illustrious career Monday night with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
IN SEARCH OF A SPARK OFF THE BENCH
Since
Raven McGrath joined the starting lineup for the injured
Morgan Ashmore, the production of Tarleton's bench has been in need of a spark. In the two games without Ashmore, Tarleton has gotten points from just three players off the bench and only four bench players have played in both games since the injury.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
After falling to Tarleton in January, the Mustangs had to turn around and play Texas Woman's in Denton the following Saturday where they dropped their second straight game. Since that visit to Kitty Magee Arena, Midwestern State has won three straight including a road win at Angelo State and a one-point home win over Cameron.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton hits the road for a 2 p.m. matchup across the Red River when they visit Cameron Saturday afternoon.
