LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton overcame a rocky start and rode a 42-28 second half right into the second round of the tournament by ending Texas A&M International's season with a 70-55 victory in the NCAA Tournament opener Friday. Brianna Bledsoe led the way with 18 points and five assists while Meagan O'Dell (13) and Kiara Wright (10) also cracked double figures against the Dustdevils.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the fourth meeting between Tarleton State and Colorado Mesa dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1991, when the Mavericks were known as Mesa State. The Mavericks won the inaugural meeting against the NAIA TexAnns 64-75. Tarleton got a win in the series with a 79-60 victory over Mesa in Grand Junction on Dec. 29, 2007 but fell 54-67 in their last meeting in Colorado on Nov. 25, 2011.

BATTLE OF FIRST-TEAM ALL-REGIONS
The NCAA South Central Semifinal matchup features a pair of first-team all-region players going head-to-head: Kiara Wright and Sharaya Selsor.

TARLETON NCAA TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL HISTORY
This is Tarleton's second trip to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals. The last time came in 2011 after the TexAnns defeated Southeastern Oklahoma in the opening round before falling to Northwest Missouri State in the semifinals.

BREAKING THE BARRIER… AGAIN
For the second straight tournament game, Tarleton State will play its first postseason game against a team from the RMAC. The game against TAMIU marked the first game against a Heartland team in the tournament and Saturday is their debut against the RMAC. The RMAC has only been in the South Central region since last year. Before that, Tarleton was in the region with the MIAA and Heartland.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Led by the efforts of first-team all-region selection Sharaya Selsor, the Colorado Mesa Mavericks enter Thursday's game with a 29-1 record. The lone loss came in the regular season finale to Fort Lewis, causing them to fall into the No. 2 spot of the regional rankings. The responded by winning all three games of the RMAC Shootout and earning their tournament championship. Selsor, a senior guard, has played 1,099 minutes this season, is a 44 percent shooter from the field on 225-510 shooting, is a 43 percent shooter from beyond the arc on 86-202 shooting and is averaging 23.8 points this season.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will continued to advance through the NCAA National Tournament as long as they continue to win. Should Tarleton advance past TAMIU, they will play the winner of (1) West Texas A&M and (5) St. Mary's Monday at 7 p.m.
