THE GAME
Tarleton State will look to get back in the win column as the TexAnns head to Eastern New Mexico for an afternoon showdown with the Zias in Greyhound Arena at 3 p.m. CST.
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
THE OPPONENT
In year two of the Josh Prock era in Portales, Eastern New Mexico has already matched its win total from a year ago with six wins over the first 16 games. After starting the season 1-5, the Zias have won five of their last 10 games including a 65-56 win over Angelo State in the Junell Center in which the Zias erased a 22-point deficit with 16:53 left in the second half. Tori Tucker (13.2) and Sarah Stinett (11.3) are the only Zias averaging double figures while Jasmine Johnson is leading the team with 6.8 rebounds this season.
THE SERIES
Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico will square off for the 41st time since 1980 when they meet on Saturday. The TexAnns hold the all-time lead 28-12 in a series that has been extremely one-sided since the turn of the century. Eastern New Mexico won 10 of the first 14 meetings but a 49-43 win by Tarleton on Jan. 25, 2001 in Portales turned the tide of the series. That win sparked a run of 24 wins over the next 26 meetings leading up to Saturday. The TexAnns have won 15 straight over Eastern New Mexico dating back to 2007.
STREAKING AGAINST EASTERN
Tarleton State has won 15 straight games against Eastern New Mexico, dating back to Feb. 24, 2007. That is the longest active win streak against a current LSC opponent and the second-longest active streak against an NCAA-era opponent behind the current 23-game streak against McMurry, who Tarleton will play on Wednesday in Stephenville.
TARLETON IN THE LSC
Tarleton State has developed into one of the premier basketball programs in the nation, as well as within the Lone Star Conference. The TexAnns earned their first league championship in 2012 and reached the finals of the LSC Championship Tournament for the second time in three years last season. Since joining the LSC as an NCAA institution in 1994, the TexAnns have a record of 165-141 against conference foes, including five seasons - four consecutive - of over 10 conference wins.
MILESTONE WATCH
•With 222 career assists,
Morgan Ashmore is currently all alone for 12th all-time. She is 60 away from passing Jenn Doroga (281) for 11th all-time.
•
Kathy Thomas enters Wednesday's game with 69 career 3-pointers made. She is four (4) made triples from passing Amanda Franklin (73) for 15th place all-time and into a tie for 14th all-time with Tiffanie Bowen (74).

WILSON IN JANUARY
Since the 2010-11 season, Wilson and the TexAnns are 31-8 in the month of January.
WHAT IS A ZIA
The Zia sun symbol originated with the Indians of the Zia Pueblo in ancient times. Its design reflects their tribal philosophy, with its wealth of pantheistic spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe. Eastern New Mexico, Tarleton State, West Texas A&M and Angelo State are the LSC schools with different nicknames for the gender-specific teams.
AVOIDING THE SKID
Tarleton State hasn't lost three straight games since Nov. 22-26, 2011. The TexAnns rebounded from that season and went on to win their first LSC title in school history.
TOPS IN THE NATION
Tarleton State ranks among the nations best in multiple statistical categories, including:
• No. 24 in FT percentage (.758)
• No. 43 in 3-point percentage (.360)
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton State will be back home for a Wednesday night meeting against McMurry in a one-game break from Lone Star Conference play at 5:30 p.m.
