THE GAME
Tarleton State looks to get back in the win column Wednesday night as the TexAnns travel to San Angelo for a 6 p.m. Lone Star Conference showdown with Angelo State at the Junell Center.
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
THE OPPONENT
After struggling out of the gate, Angelo State has turned its season around over the last six games. The Rambelles started the season 0-4, including a winless trip to Stephenville for the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic, but a 72-64 win over Colorado State-Pueblo turned things around. The win over the Thunderwolves was the first of five wins over a six-game stretch. The Rambelles enter Wednesday's game on a four-game winning streak.
SCORING FROM EVERYWHERE
With five wins over the last six games, Angelo State has gotten a different leading scorer in each of the last six games.
THE SERIES
In the oldest conference rivalry in TexAnn history, Wednesday is the 47th all-time meeting between these storied Lone Star Conference rivals. Tarleton State holds the all-time advantage in the series 25-21 but are just 9-15 in San Angelo and 2-10 against the Rambelles in the Junell Center since the building made its debut in January 2002. Tarleton State has not lost back-to-back games against Angelo State since Jan. 17, 2009.
FAMILIAR RIVAL
Angelo State-Tarleton State is the longest active rivalry in TexAnn history. The teams began playing in 1976, making 2015 the 39th year of action between the TexAnns and Belles. The 46 games played between these teams is the second-most games played against one opponent behind only Midwestern State (58).
TARLETON IN THE LSC
Tarleton State has developed into one of the premier basketball programs in the nation, as well as within the Lone Star Conference. In addition to being a perennial national power with five straight trips to the national playoffs, The TexAnns earned their first league championship in 2012 and reached the finals of the LSC Championship Tournament for the second time in three years last season. Since joining the LSC as an NCAA institution in 1994, the TexAnns have a record of 162-139 against conference foes, including five seasons - four consecutive - of over 10 conference wins.
