Â
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
For the second time in her Tarleton career
Ikpeaku Iwobi has gone for a double-double in three straight games and Saturday's effort was enough to put the TexAnns back in the win column with a 66-54 win over Texas Wesleyan. Iwobi scored 14 points on 6-1 shooting from the floor and 2-2 shooting from the free throw line to go along with 11 rebounds – six on the offensive glass – to lead the TexAnns.
Â
THE OPPONENT
The Texas A&M International Women's Basketball team was handed a single-point loss (66-67) from Texas A&M Kingsville in their home opener on Thursday night. The loss puts the Dustdevils' 2015-16 campaign at 0-3 overall. The Lone Star Conference rival Javelinas have contributed for two of the Dustdevils three losses this season. Keiona Mathews led the way with 20 points against Kingsville.
Â
THE SERIES
Tarleton and Texas A&M International will meet for the fifth in school history and second time this season. The TexAnns have won all four previous meetings against Texas A&M International, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 2003 and including the opening game of the 2014 NCAA South Central Regional Tournament in Canyon.
Â
DROPPIN' DIMES
Morgan Ashmore enters Tuesday's game with 255 career assists, which currently has her at No. 12 on the all-time list. She is 27 assists away from taking over the No. 11 spot from Jenn Doroga (281) and 36 assists shy of jumping into the top 10 by passing Tina Proctor (290).
Â
MOVIN' UP THE ALL-TIME 3's LIST
With 13 three-pointers in the first five games,
Meagan O'Dell has tied Morgan Stehling (2008-12) for 14th all-time in long shots with 76 in her career. Her next three-pointer will tie her with
Misty Wilson for 13th place on the all-time list with 77 made 3FG.
Â
DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Junior
Ikpeaku Iwobi is currently the only
TexAnn to record a double-double in any game this season, having done so on 3 different occasions. She now has a double-double effort in each of the last three games, which ties a career best. The last time Tarleton had a player with at least four straight double-doubles was Kiara Wright from Feb. 15 through March 5, 2014 when the All-American had five in a row.
Â
TARLETON IN TRUE ROAD OPENERS
Since
Misty Wilson first took her spot on the Tarleton bench as an assistant coach in 2002, Tarleton is 7-6 in the first true road game of the season (not including neutral site games). Tarleton was 1-7 in true road openers as an NCAA institution before Wilson joined the coaching staff, brining Tarleton's road opener record in the NCAA era to 8-13. As a head coach, Wilson won her first road game in the first attempt last season when the TexAnns upset Lubbock Christian on its home floor 73-71 in overtime last season.
Â
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will take the rest of the month away from the hardwood and return to game action on December 1 in Wisdom Gym against Arlington Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
