THE GAME
Tarleton State will take a one-game hiatus from Lone Star Conference action Wednesday afternoon when the TexAnns travel to Abilene for a 4 p.m. tip off against the Warhawks.
TIME CHANGE
Tarleton State will tip off against the Warhawks two hours earlier than planned as inclement weather forced the teams to move up the start of the game from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
THE BROADCAST
The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
THE OPPONENT
McMurry has struggled in this transition season under interim head coach William Milton, winning just four in 24 games this season. The wins came against Adams State, Howard Payne and two blowout wins against Southwestern Adventist, winning by a combined score of 179-51 against the Knights.
ABOUT McMURRY'S TRANSITION
McMurry withdrew its membership bid into the NCAA Division II on Jan. 31, 2014 and are currently competing as a Division III independent with sport-specific affiliations of track and field and football in the Lone Star Conference.
THE SERIES
Tarleton and McMurry have a rich history from when the teams competed against each other in TIAA District 8. This will be the 37th all-time meeting between the Warhawks and the TexAnns, dating back to the first meeting in 1980, but just the third game since Tarleton became an NCAA member in 1994. Tarleton owns the all-time record 33-3 and have won the last 24 meetings against McMurry since Jan. 8 1983. The TexAnns have won 10 straight games on the road, last losing to the Warhawks in Abilene in a 67-81 battle back on Feb. 26, 1982 in the TAIAW Division III state tournament.
STREAKING AGAINST MCMURRY
Tarleton State has won 24 straight games against McMurry, dating back to Jan. 8, 1983. That is the longest active win streak against an active NCAA-era opponent.
