LAST TIME OUT
A late run by No. 8 West Texas A&M spoiled an otherwise strong performance by the Tarleton TexAnns, who fell to the Lady Buffs 78-73 in overtime Saturday at the First United Bank Center.
Ikpeaku Iwobi led the TexAnns in scoring with 13 points on 6-8 shooting from the field, while
Raven McGrath,
Averie Mack, and
Meagan O'Dell also cracked double figures with 11 points each.
Â
THE OPPONENT
Led by the double-figure scoring efforts of Artajeh Gay and Princess Davis, Texas A&M-Commerce has been flirting with the .500 mark all season and enter Tuesday's game with a record of 10-9, 3-4. The Lions have dropped four of their last seven but are coming off a 113-95 win over Arlington Baptist.
Â
THE SERIES
Tarleton owns a 30-19 lead in the all-time series, dating back to 1973. The TexAnns are 16-5 all-time against the Lions in Wisdom Gym since 1981 and have won nine of the last 11 since 2009.
Â
MCGRATH AMONG TEXANN MCGREATS
Raven McGrath has joined a select group of Tarleton greats to go down as one of the most complete players to ever wear the Purple and White. The senior from Grandview became the eighth player in Tarleton's NCAA era to record over 100 steals, 150 assists, 200 rebounds, and 500 points in a career. She joins the exclusive list of Jenn Doroga (1993-97) - who played in the NAIA as a freshman, but the final three in NCAA - as well as
Misty Wilson (1998-02), Shea Kester (1998-02), Katie Crawford (2004-07), Sonya Sundberg (2007-11), Shelby Adamson (2008-12), and Kiara Wright (2010-14).
Â
RECORD-SETTING SEASON
In just her junior campaign,
Bailey Wipff is rewriting the history books. The Lubbock native just moved into a tie with D'Anna Dingler's 2008-09 season for the 13th-most 3-point shots made in a season (45). Wipff is closing in on No. 12 Katie Crawford (48; 2003-04), and No. 11 Brianna Bledsoe (51; 2013-14). She is also on pace for a top-5 season at the free throw line. Her percentage today (.891) would be the third highest in a season behind two from Peyton Adamson (2011-13) and Katie Crawford (2005-06).
Â
OVER THE LAST THREE GAMES
•
Breanna Fuller is leading the way on the glass as the senior from Huntsville has grabbed 24 total rebounds in the last three games for an average of 8.0 per game.
