ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • This is the second meeting this season between these two teams, the first time Tarleton has played an opponent multiple times this year.
  • Tarleton beat Utah Valley on New Year's Day 61-48. Tarleton won the first quarter 17-6 and the fourth quarter 26-11. They outshot the Wolverines 20-of-45 (.444) to 19-of-57 (.333), and got to the free throw line 11 more times, making 17-of-21.
  • Iyana Dorsey led TSU with 20 points (12-12 FT). She had 10 points in the final three minutes.

QUICK HITS
  • Tarleton just snapped a season-long three-game losing skid. They are 8-2 following a loss.
  • With a win Wednesday, Tarleton would win consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 18-22.
  • This is the final installment of a three-game road trip for the Texans. It's tied for their longest road trip of the season, along with an unplanned three-game trip Jan. 17-22 (TSU went 2-1).
  • Tarleton and Utah Valley are separated by just one game in the WAC standings, UVU sixth, Tarleton ninth. If the Texans win, they could potentially be tied-sixth (UTRGV also plays Wednesday).
  • With a win Wednesday, Tarleton would guarantee themselves a .500+ mark on the road for the third time in the last four seasons (had happened just once in five seasons from 2013-18).
  • In the last game, Tarleton returned their top scorer (Iyana Dorsey), their top rebounder and shot blocker (Seynabou Thiam), and their top three-point shooter (Jenna Dick).
  • Thiam has the tied-most blocks in a single-season in program history. With just one more block, she will surpass Kaelie Butler's 58 blocks in 1993-94. With three more blocks, Thiam will surpass Hawaii's Christen Roper (60, 2002-03) for the most blocks in a single-season in WAC history.
  • If Lucy Benson plays in Wednesday's game, it will be her 140th career game played at Tarleton, which will tie her with Dianna May (1976-80) for the most games played in team history.
  • Utah Valley has won two straight games, which is tied for their season-long winning streak.

WHO'S HOT
  • Seynabou Thiam – Thiam just returned from injury to post her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting, 13 rebounds and four blocks. Over her last four games, she's recorded three double-doubles, averaging 8.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 21.3 minutes.
  • Tyler Jackson – Jackson just scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, 4-of-6 from deep. She has her first string of double-digit scoring games, leading the Texans in scoring in each of the last two. Over the pair, she's averaged 14.0 points (6-of-10 3PT) and 3.5 assists.
  • Malaya Kendrick – In the WAC, the Texans' starting point guard has recorded the 27th most points (225), the tied-seventh most rebounds (155), and the 15th most assists (60). She's one of two players in the conference with 200+ points, 150+ rebounds and 50+ assists (SFA's Stephanie Visscher).

NUMBERS TO KNOW
