The Teams: Tarleton Texans (14-12, 6-9 WAC) at Lamar Cardinals (11-12, 6-8 WAC)
Where: Beaumont, Texas
Arena: Montagne Event Center
Day and Time: Saturday, 2 p.m. CT
Streaming Platform: ESPN+
Radio: Tarleton Sports Network (Kyle Crews)

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • This is the third all-time meeting, the second of the season. Lamar has won both, most recently beating Tarleton in Stephenville 53-45 on Jan. 27. In that game, Iyana Dorsey was the lone Texan in double figures with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
  • Since beating Tarleton, Lamar has won just a single time, on Feb. 3 against UTRGV. The Cardinals are on a season-long four-game losing streak, their longest skid since the first four games of 2020-21. They haven't lost 5+ in a row since 2019-20.

QUICK HITS
  • With a W, Tarleton would improve to 10-2 in games following a loss this season. They've suffered just one losing streak all year, a three-game skid from Jan. 27 through Feb. 5.
  • With a win, Tarleton would guarantee themselves an overall winning record. It would mark their first winning season since reclassifying to NCAA Division I, and it'd mark their 17th winning season over the past 18 years (18 of the last 19 being .500 or better).
  • This is Tarleton's final road game. With a win, Tarleton would finish with a 7-7 record away from home. It'd be their third season in four years they'd have a .500+ road record.
  • In these teams' last meeting, Tarleton center Seynabou Thiam played just five minutes, injuring her shoulder in the first quarter. She had entered that contest with two straight double-doubles.
  • Marissa Escamilla has scored a season-high in three straight games, pouring in 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting against the Vaqueros. It's her third straight game leading the Texans in scoring after having not done so once this year before this stretch.
  • The Cardinals have shot better than 40 percent from the field just once in their last eight games. Tarleton forces the third worst shooting percentage in the WAC at 37.6 percent.
  • These teams are separated by just a half-game in the WAC standings, Lamar eighth at 6-8 (11-12 overall), and Tarleton ninth at 6-9 (14-12 overall).

WHO'S HOT
  • Marissa Escamilla – Over her last three games, Escamilla has averaged 14.3 points on 17-of-31 (.548) shooting and 4.7 rebounds. She's scored 10+ points in three straight games, a season-long streak, her longest since doing so in five straight games to end 2020-21.
  • Jenna Dick – Dick just scored a season-high 17 points, her most points in a game at Tarleton, thanks to a 5-of-7 clip from downtown. Her five three-point makes were the most by a Texan in a game this season. She's back to leading the WAC in three-point percentage at .441.
  • Malaya Kendrick – The do-it-all Kendrick just posted 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. She now leads the Texans in total points (247), rebounds (167) and assists (65). Conference-wide she's 24th in points, tied-seventh in rebounds, tied-13th in assists.

10: Jenna Dick has MADE AT LEAST ONE THREE-POINTER in 10 straight games. In the last game, she made 5-of-7 from long range, the most three-point makes by a Texan in a game since Kylie Collins drained five threes against Texas A&M International on Feb. 27, 2020.

14: Tarleton averages the FEWEST FOULS PER GAME in the WAC at 14.3. Conversely, the Cardinals have made the third fewest free throws in the conference (255), owning the second worst free throw percentage (64.9).

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
