Tarleton heads to Diamante Intercollegiate on Sunday

HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas – Tarleton State will embark on their fourth event of the fall on Sunday for the three-day Diamante Intercollegiate at Diamante CC in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Live scoring for the event will be provided by GolfStat. The link to follow along for all three days can be found here or on the Tarleton women's golf schedule page. Follow us on twitter and Instagram @tarletonwgolf for up-to-date highlights and updates.

The Texans will compete against a 18-team field that includes six of the last seven team champions of the event. Also among the participants are four Texas schools and three WAC foes. The field consists of: Arkansas, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bradley, Boston College, California Baptist, Central Arkansas, Georgia State, Houston Christian, Little Rock, Memphis, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Commerce, UT Arlington and Wichita State. Ten schools from the previous event are also participating in this year's edition.

Diamante CC features an 18-hole par 72 course with 6,054 total yards. It is in Hot Springs Village in central Arkansas near Little Rock.

Head coach Isabel Jimenez will be taking the same five to Arkansas that she used in Texan Match Play. Sofia Rodriguez, Lou Deltombe, Mathilde Brogens, Elle Fox and Rebecca Fernandez will look to improve on last year's eighth place finish at the event. All but newcomer Deltombe played the course a year ago.

Last time out, the Texans hosted Texan Match Play at Squaw Valley Golf Course, their first home event during the program's Division I era. Jimenez's squad swept Texas Southern in the first round, 5-0. The Texans then knocked off Stephen F. Austin, 3-1-1 to claim the first annual Texan Match Play championship. Rodriguez, Deltombe and Brogens each earned wins in both two rounds.

Last year at the Little Rock women's classic, the Texans finished eighth of 16 participating teams. Georgia State won the team title and ULM was the runner up. Fox turned in her best finish of her 2022-23 campaign, tying for third. She shot a one-under par, 215. Fernandez earned a top-20 finish as well carding a five-over, 222.

Tarleton State will close out its fall schedule with a trip to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to compete in The Judson 2023. Southern Mississippi is hosting the invite set to tee off from Hattiesburg CC on Monday October 30, with the final round being played on Halloween Tuesday, October 31.
