Tarleton Tennis’ Lorca set to compete at ITA Conference Masters Championship Thursday

ROME, Ga. – Tarleton State Tennis senior Noelia Lorca will compete in the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Georgia starting Thursday.

Lorca, who qualified for the event after winning the WAC Fall Tennis Invitational singles title, was recently named the WAC Singles Player of the Month for October. The Spaniard defeated the top two seeds en route to the title and came up with two bagels (6-0 sets) in addition to winning 80 percent of the sets she played.

Lorca will compete against Xavier's Madeleine Rexroat in the first round starting at 10 a.m. CT. The winner will face Amahee Charrier from Nevada or Katja Wiersholm of Cal.

Having a top fall performance for the Texans in the 2024 fall season, Lorca won the consolation doubles title with Emma Persson at the ITA Texas Regional Championships last month. Lorca carried that momentum in singles a few weeks later, winning four matches in three days as the No. 5 seed in the WAC Fall Tennis Invitational.

She captured the first-ever WAC Tennis Invitational singles championship by defeating UT Arlington's Ana Paula Jimenez in three sets 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4 in the final at John TL Jones Tennis Center.

Lorca was named to the WAC Singles All-Conference Second Team and the conference's All-Tournament Team last year. She led the Texans in singles wins, finishing 18-2 (.900) overall, 2-0 at No. 3, 8-2 at No. 4 and 8-0 at No. 5 last season.

Prior to arriving in Stephenville, Lorca played two seasons (2021-23) at former WAC member Lamar, going 18-17 overall in singles. She won nine doubles matches and went undefeated in Southland Conference play to earn First Team All-SLC honors.

Lorca's first round opponent in Xavier's Rexroat was a  five-star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net, joining Xavier from Milton, Georgia. During 2023, she was ranked as high as No. 49 in the country on TennisRecruiting.net and won the USTA National Level 3 Tournament in March 2023 in Bradenton, Florida.

Live stats will be available through PlaySight and Cracked Racquets. Live scoring will be available via iOnCourt. If Lorca wins her 10 a.m. first round match, she will play the second round match at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday.
