EARLY WORK, BEST WORK
  • A trio of Texans have already posted career-best numbers just two games in.
  • Shadasia Brackens had a career-high 20 points in her second game as a Texan against Arkansas State (11/7). In her first game as a Texan, she grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to go with 17 points in the season opener against Schreiner (11/3).
  • Senior guard/forward Kyriana Jones scored a career-high 17 points against Arkansas State (11/7), her second game of the season. Her previous career-high of 14 points came in 2023.
  • Sophomore guard Mar'Cyah Willis recorded a career-high 16 points in the season opener against Schreiner (11/3). It was her first collegiate double-digit point game.
WELCOME BACK
  • Tarleton State's 2025-26 roster features three players that did not play Division I basketball last season, but will do so this year.
  • Gia Adams was an All-WAC player at UT Arlington in 2023-24 before transferring to North Texas. She did not play at UNT.
  • Caroline Lyles was injured at Akron and did not play in the 2024-25 season.
  • Luka Malinka played Division II basketball at Roosevelt in 2024-25. She played at Winthrop and Northern Colorado before transferring.
  • Having players come back to basketball after a year off is not new for the Texans. Niki Van Wyk was a key role player for the Texans last year in the Purple and White, returning to college basketball after taking the 2023-24 season off. She played in 31 games, starting three, and scored 141 points (4.5 points per game).
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
  • Tarleton State Women's Basketball welcomes 12 newcomers on its 15-player roster in 2025-26. The Texans have the seventh-most newcomers in all NCAA Division I Women's Basketball.
  • The Texans have four Division I transfers, one Division II transfer, a pair of junior college transfers and four freshmen.
  • Tarleton State replaced eight seniors from 2024-25. Five transfers (Tessa Engelman, Jailynn Brill, Gia Adams, Shadasia Brackens, and Caroline Lyles) all have previous experience in Division I.
GREAT ON THE GLASS
  • Outrebounding the opposition is a continuing trend for Tarleton State Women's Basketball.
  • The Texans opened the 2025-26 season with 53 rebounds as a team, the most in a season opener in the Division I Era. Tarleton State had two players with 10+ rebounds (Shadasia Brackens - 11 and Allie Myers - 10).
  • The Texans led the WAC in rebounding margin last year, outrebounding its opponents by 7.6 boards per game. They were 18th in the nation in that category.
