DOUBLE-DOUBLE DUO
  • Tarleton State's post players make for quite the duo, especially when posting double-doubles.
  • Junior forward Shadasia Brackens and freshman center Elodie Lutbert each have posted a double-double in back-to-back games. It is the first time since 2006 (Iveta Griffin and Isha Brown, Jan. 28-31) a Texan duo has had a double-double in back-to-back games.
  • Brackens (11 pts, 11 reb) had her third double-double of the season while Lutbert (12 pts, 10 reb) posted her second in a road win at Mississippi Valley State (12/2).
  • Brackens (16 pts, 10 reb) had her second double-double of the season while Lutbert (10 pts, 12 reb) posted her first double-double at the collegiate level at Texas State (11/25)
  • With Brackens' and Lutbert's double-double at Texas State, it was the first time this season a pair of Texans have recorded a double-double in the same game. It was the first time since March 14, 2025 two Texans had a double-double in the same game.
  • Brackens is the first Texan since 2020-21 (Callie Boyles) and second Texan in Division I Era to record two double-doubles in the first seven games of the season. She is also the first Texan since 2016 (Mackenzie Hailey) to post three double-doubles in Tarleton State's first 10 games.
LONG LETTING LOOSE
  • Tarleton State Women's Basketball senior guard Jakoriah Long is a scoring threat for the Texans, averaging over 13 points per game in conference play and over 10 points per game overall last year. She was named to the All-WAC Second Team in 2024-25 and Preseason All-WAC Team entering 2025-26.
  • Long is coming off a season-high 16 points at Mississippi Valley State (12/2). She had her first Division I double-double, pouring in 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in Tarleton State's double overtime win over Houston Christian (11/9)
  • The senior guard set a new Division I Era single game program record with seven made 3-pointers twice last season, most recently doing so against CBU (3/6).
  • Long's 70% shooting from beyond the arc against CBU was the second-highest 3-point percentage by a Texan in a single game in the Division I Era. She is just the second Texan in the Division I Era to hit 70% of her 3-pointers off a minimum of seven attempts.
  • Long is the first Texan in the Division I Era to post two consecutive 25-point games. She is the first Texan since the 2013-14 season to post back-to-back games with at least 25 points (Kiara Wright, Feb. 5-8, 2014).
  • She also became the first Texan in the Division I Era to have back-to-back games with six or more 3-pointers. She is the first Texan since the 2011-12 season to have two consecutive games with six or more 3-pointers (Peyton Adamson, Jan. 11-14, 2012).
REUNITED AGAIN
  • Senior guard Luka Malinka, who played college basketball in the United States at Roosevelt, Northern Colorado and Winthrop, earned All-Conference honors last season.
  • The Rungsted, Denmark, native will reunite with Associate Head Coach Geoff Golden, who was on Northern Colorado's coaching staff when Malinka played for the Bears in 2022-23.
  • Malinka was a second-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection in 2024-25. Finishing second in the league in scoring at 15.4 points per game, Malinka had seven 20-point performances.
  • In just her third game as a Texan, Malinka dropped a season-high 21 points and went 10-for-11 from the free throw line to lead the Texans in scoring in Tarleton State's double overtime win over Houston Christian (11/9).
  • She is the sixth Texan in the Division I era to make 10+ free throws in a game.
  • Malinka's next assist will give her 100th career assist at the collegiate level.
