STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Track and Field will travel to Manhattan, Kansas to compete in the Steve Miller Invitational for the first time in program history on Friday at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track.

Head coach
Bobby Carter is in his first season at the helm of the Texan program. Coach Carter previously served as an assistant coach for the University of Arizona. Carter was an elite athlete himself, starring in jump at Nebraska. During his time competing from 2009-14 he earned a pair of All-American honors.
Both Tarleton State's men's and women's programs were ranked nationally by the USTFCCCA in their most recent rankings on Tuesday. The women's squad is 48
th in the nation with the men checking in at 91. In the South Central Region, the women are 12
th and the men are 15
th. In the WAC the Texan women are slotted third with the men ranked fourth.
Earlier this week a pair of Texans earned WAC Athlete of the Week honors. Redshirt-freshman
Victoria Cameron won her second honor of the season. She broke her school record in the 60 twice last weekend at the Stan Scott Invite & Multis. Her 7.14 second run in the event is the second-best time in the NCAA this season and the fifth best time in the world. Senior
Joren McKeever earned his first WAC honor as a Texan setting the school record in the high jump clearing 2.12 meters.
Last time out at the Stan Scott Invite & Multis last weekend, the Texans set six new school records and added 19 top 10 program all-time performances.
Malak Rashwan broke two records on the first day, as the only Texan to compete in the multis. While competing in the pentathlon, she broke her program and Egyptian national record in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing in 8.51 seconds. The Egypt native broke the school pentathlon record as well tallying 3553 points, breaking her record she set in Wichita State in the opening meet.
Amandine Estival set a pair of records across the final two days. On Friday she broke the 400-record clocking in at 55.47 seconds. It was only the second time she ran the indoor 400 in her collegiate career after posting the fourth best time in her debut two weekends ago at the Corky Classic. On Saturday, she broke the 200-meter record previously held by teammate
Hanna Dudley. Estival crossed in 24.08 breaking Dudley's record by nearly 0.4 seconds.
After the first three weekends, 12 school records have been broken by the Texans. In addition, 36 top-10 performance bests have been set.
Tarleton State will compete in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in New Mexico next weekend. The two-day event will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, the same place as the WAC Indoor Championships were held last year. The two-day event will span from Friday to Saturday.
