The two-day event will start on Friday afternoon with the hammer throw. The other fields events of long jump, pole vault and discus will open the afternoon before the running events. Friday night's running events will include the 200, 400 hurdles, 1500 and 5000. Saturday will crown 22 more individual event champions with events set to commence around 11 a.m. and conclude around 5 p.m.

After the first three meets of the season, the Texans have had four athletes win five weekly athletes of the week honors. Victoria Cameron won back-to-back WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week awards after Texas Relays and the Bill Schmidt Invite. She has the eighth-best time in the 100 in the nation and leads the WAC clocking in at 11.09.

Three other Texans also have posted top 50 performances in the NCAA this year. Freshman Prestina Ochonogor ranks sixth in the long jump. Her best leap of 6.48 meters came at the Texas Relays at the end of March. Gabriele Tosti is sixth in the triple jump. His best performance of 16.13 meters also came at the Texas Relays. Lokesh Sathyanathan's 7.50-meter long jump has him ranked 47th in the nation.

Tosti will be in search of his second consecutive triple jump event championship at the Michael Johnson Invitational. He took home the crown last year with a best leap of 15.96 meters. The Texans also broke a pair of school records a season ago. The men's 400 hurdles record was broken on Friday night and Taylor McFarland broke the 400-meter program best on Saturday. McFarland's 54.699-second performance also set a new personal best. The women's 4x100 relay team also garnered a podium finish a year ago.

Tarleton State will be back in action next weekend for their first and only home event of the season. The Texans will host the Joe Gillespie Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Tarleton State Track Complex. Admission will be free to all fans to come out and support the Purple and White during their historic season.
