FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Tarleton State Women's Track and Field will be sending three athletes to the NCAA Championships with the addition of
Victoria Cameron and
Lauren Roy punching their tickets on Saturday in the final day of the NCAA West First Rounds at John McDonnell Field.
Cameron joins
Prestina Ochonogor in making their second consecutive outdoor NCAA Championship appearance as an individual. After qualifying for Oregon last year in the 4x100 meter relay, Roy will be making her first NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships appearance as an individual in her collegiate career. The Texans will send three women as individuals, surpassing last year's D1 era record. Last year, the Purple and White only had two women qualify as individuals with three additional athletes running in the 4x100 meter relay.
"I couldn't be prouder of these young women," said head coach Bobby Carter. "To have our 100-meter sprinter (Cameron) and 200-meter sprinter (Roy) punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships, joining our long jumper (Ochonogor), is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of the work they've put in all year. What makes it even more special is the adversity they faced along the way. There were challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested them, but they never stopped believing, never stopped competing, and when the moment arrived, they got the job done. We're excited to have three women representing our program on the national stage, and we look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in Eugene."
Cameron punched her second-consecutive ticket to Eugene in the 100 meters. The junior placed third in her heat setting a new personal best with an all-conditions school record in 11.00 seconds. With the mark, she ranked fifth overall in the West region. The Stephenville, Texas, native, has now posted five sub-11.05 second marks in her collegiate career, owning five of the top six times in school history in all-conditions. The junior was a Second Team All-American last year placing ninth in the finals. The 2026 version may look very different with 10 athletes from the East and West posting sub-11 second performances in the quarterfinals on Saturday in their respective regions. Cameron's 11.00 second time would have been tied or the third fastest entering into Oregon in 2025.
Roy had to wait to find out if she had punched her ticket, but after the final heat she was overcome with joy realizing that she had made it in. Not only did she punch her ticket to the NCAA Championships, the senior also broke the school record she set on Thursday night clocking in at 22.83 seconds, with the wind at a just barely legal, +2.0 meters per second. Roy placed fourth in her heat qualifying as the second-fastest time outside the top three in each heat. Overall, the Bellfast, Northern Ireland, native, posted the 10
th fastest time in the West Region. After combining the 12 qualifiers from the East, Roy will be ranked 19
th heading to Eugene.
Ochonogor punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships on Thursday. He second jump of 6.51 meters set her season best and was enough to place fifth in the region. With the 12 qualified jumpers from the East First Rounds. Ochonogor is tied for fifth in the advancing field. Her mark of 6.51 meters was the same as the winning leap in the East region. Ochonogor will jump on Thursday, June 11
th at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The 4x100 meter relay placed seventh in their heat and 17
th overall. The squad consisted of
Nellie Wartanian,
Amandine Estival,
Malak Rashwan and
Emma Holmes. USC posted the best time in 42.57 with the cutoff time of 44.57 by Arizona State that rounded off the 12 teams heading to Oregon.
Ochonogor, Cameron and Roy will be competing for Tarleton State at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. from June 10-13. Cameron will be the first to compete in the 100 meters semifinals on Thursday, June 11 at 6:25 pm. Ochonogor will compete in the long jump at 6:40 with a national champion being crowned.
