EUGENE, Oregon — For the first time in program history, the Tarleton State Track and Field program will be competing from Wednesday to Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Hayward Field.
The Texans will be competing in five events across the four days. On each day, the Texans will have a chance to crown a national champion for the first time in program history. The Texans will be first WAC program to ever have an individual win a WAC title in any of the events the squad is participating in.
Head coach Bobby Carter is in his first year as a head coach at any level has the highest ranked men's or women's team by a first-year head coach this season. The men's program cracked the top 25 for the first time in school history after the fourth week of the season and was ranked within the top 25 for four consecutive weeks. First WAC program to rank within top 25 since 2022, first to be ranked in top 25 in consecutive weeks since 2020.
"The moment we all have been waiting for has come," said coach Carter. "This team has worked so hard, and I am proud of them in advance! This is arguably the best meet in the world, and I let our athletes know that it's an accomplishment of itself just to be here. This group is ready to handle business and I'm excited for what's to come!"
The Purple and White are 1 of 8 schools to have at least one athlete in each the men's long and triple jumps. They are also 1 of 9 schools to have an athlete in three of the four events of the men's and women's long and triple jumps. The Texans have
seven qualifying athletes which is the most by a WAC program since 2010. The WAC has athletes in 10 events, five of those are held by Tarleton State.

Lokesh Sathyanathan
Event: Men's Long Jump
Date: Wednesday, June 11

The senior posted the best jump in the nation this season at the Michael Johnson Invitational, 8.14 meters. At the NCAA First Rounds, his 7.87-meter jump ranked four in the West and fourth among all 24 qualifying jumpers. He was the 2025 WAC Outdoor long jump champion, his second WAC title after winning the indoor title as well. He is making his second appearance at the NCAA National Championships (15
th in 2023). The Karnataka, India, native is one of four student-athletes from the country of India at the meet this year.
He will be the 12
th jumper in his flight. Sathyanathan will need to record a top nine jump in is first three leaps among the 24 in the field to reach the finals. In the finals he will be granted three more jumps with a chance to improve his best over the first three to compete for a national title.
Victoria Cameron
Event: Women's 100

Cameron has had a very historic season during her first full outdoor season. She was named WAC Female Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, following the season. At the WAC Championships where she was the double champion in the 100 and 200 she was selected as the Female Track Performer of the Meet at the Outdoor scoring 22.5 points. She added a third gold medal as part of the 4x100 relay team. At the NCAA West First Rounds, she set the WAC all-time record in the 100 winning her heat in 11.01 seconds. She also holds outdoor school record in the 100 and 200 both set this season. She enters the championships as the only non-Power Four sprinter in the top 10 where she ranks seventh. Out of the 10 heats of the 100 she has run this season, she has won er heat nine times. The only time she didn't she was third at Texas Relays finals to Indya Mayberry and Leah Bertrand who are both in Oregon.
Prestina Ochonogor
Event: Women's Long Jump

Ochonogor posted the second-best leap at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds. She is one of only four freshmen to qualify among the top 24 jumpers in the nation and is one of seven non-Power Four competitors. Her best mark of 6.66 meters was just one centimeter shy of her WAC Championship winning jump of 6.67 meters a few weeks ago. She tied the WAC Championships Meet Record with the leap on her first attempt. She was named WAC Female Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year as one of two freshmen to win a WAC title. She owns the school record in the long jump in both indoor and outdoor. At the 2025 Indoor National Championships she posted an eight-place finish to earn First Team All-American status. She finished 12
th in the long jump as the 2024 Paris Olympics from Nigeria.

The squad set the school record and WAC all-time record at the NCAA West First Rounds in 43.66 seconds. The Texans are one of two non-Power Four schools to have a relay in the meet joining Howard. The Purple and White posted the 18
th fastest time in the Preliminary rounds and will need to be a top eight time to reach Saturday's finals. Three of the four runners expected to compete finished in top 8 in the 100 at the WAC Championships.
Sir Jonathan Sims
Event: Men's Triple Jump

Sims is making his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Last year at Arizona Sims had a long stay in Eugene competing in both the long and triple jump as well as competing at the US Olympic Trials after the NCAA Championships. Sims will look to improve on his All-American Honorable Mention performances from a season ago in each event. He owns the wind-legal school record in long jump at 7.93 meters set at the Michael Johnson Invitational. He was the WAC Champion in the triple jump and the runner-up in long jump this season.
All four days of the event will be aired on national television. The first two days will be on ESPN with the final two days on ESPN2. The main focus on the ESPN networks will be the track events, but highlights from field events are expected to be covered as well during breaks in heats. For full coverage of the entire event, the ESPN+ stream per event will show each and every jump.
Tarleton State will close out its season this week, in search of its first individual national championship at the biggest stage in the sport. The Texans are looking to put an exclamation on what has already been a historic season.
