Tarleton State Women’s Basketball takes on in-state rival ACU for Valentine’s Day date at EECU Center Saturday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Basketball will host in-state rival ACU for a Valentine's Day game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the EECU Center.

Tarleton State is back in action after a week off play. The Texans are coming off the largest comeback in the Division I era, overcoming an 18-point deficit to defeat Southern Utah 59-57 on Feb. 7 at the EECU Center. Freshman center Elodie Lutbert was named WAC Newcomer of the Week on Monday.

Fans unable to attend the game in person can watch the game on ESPN+ and also listen to the radio call on Tarleton Sports Network.

FANTASTIC FRESHMAN
  • Freshman Elodie Lutbert is having one of the best seasons by a first-year college player since the Texans moved to Division I.
  • Lutbert was named WAC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 9, 2026 after nearly averaging a double-double.
  • Lutbert recorded her sixth double-double of the season against CBU (2/5) with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She is the first freshman in the Division I era and the first since 2010-11 to have four double-doubles in a single season (Kiara Wright, 4).
  • Lutbert matched the D1 era program record for most rebounds in a game with 16 against UTA (1/21)
  • Lutbert had three straight double-doubles between Nov. 25-Dec.7. She is the first Tarleton State freshman since 1985-86 to have three straight games with a double-double (Kelly Hubbard, Nov. 12-20).
  • Lutbert has also blocked five shots multiple times this season. She is the first Tarleton State freshman since 2005 to have five blocks in a game (TaNesiah Leak).
  • With Shadasia Brackens, she was part of the first Texan duo to post three straight double-doubles in the same three games since 1985. Brackens and Lutbert accomplished that feat Nov. 25-Dec. 2.
  • She is currently second in the Division I era in single season blocks and in the top 10 on the program's all-time list.
  • Lutbert was the last player to join the Texans, signing with Tarleton State in August. She previously represented Team France at the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European.
COMEBACK KIDS
  • Down by 18 points, Tarleton State Women's Basketball completed the largest comeback in the Division I era and defeated Southern Utah 59-57 on Feb. 7.
  • The comeback marks the largest come-from-behind effort in the last two decades.
  • The biggest comeback the Texans have made since is 17 points against Cameron (12/3/2016) and Angelo State (3/5/2017).
  • The effort marked the second time this season the Texans trailed at halftime and ended the game in victory. Tarleton State trailed UT Arlington at the half on Jan. 21, later rallying in the second half to defeat the Lady Mavs.
QUEENS OF THE BLOCK
  • Tarleton State has shot blockers in its frontcourt in Tessa Engelman and Elodie Lutbert
  • Lutbert blocked five shots against Texas A&M-San Antonio. She was the first Tarleton State freshman since 2005 to have five blocks in a single game (TaNesiah Leak).
  • Lutbert had her second five-block game against UTA (12/29). She was the first Texan in the Division I era and first since 2009 to block five shots in a conference opener (5, JoAnne Jones vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville).
  • Lutbert is the first Texan since 2021-22 to have multiple five block games in a season (Seynabou Thiam, 4).
  • Lutbert is currently second on the program's single season blocks list in the Division I era.
  • Lutbert cracked the top 10 on the program's all-time single season blocks list at ACU (2/3). She is currently 10th and needs one more block to tie for ninth with Kelly Hubbard (1985-86) for ninth.
  • She needs 21 more for the program record.
  • Engelman has five games in college basketball with 3+ blocks, including two this season. Her most recent game with 3+ blocks was against McNeese (11/16, 3).
  • Engelman's five blocks on Feb. 6, 2025 at Iona were the most by a Mountaineer player in a single game since Nov. 2019.
