SPOKANE, Wash. — Tarleton State Track and Field heads to The Podium for the second consecutive year to compete at the 2026 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The WAC Indoor Championships are set for Friday and Saturday that will claim individual event champions and team champions in both men's and women's. Friday will include both prelims and finals as Saturday will be all finals in both field and track events. Both days will be streamed on ESPN+. Live results will be provided by the WAC as well.
For the first time in program history, the Texan women are picked tied for first in the pre-championship polls voted on by the head coaches. On the men's side, the Texan men are slotted second, the highest in program history as well. Entering the championships, the Texans have 26 top three performances in the WAC in their respective events.
"This is what we've prepared for," said head coach Bobby Carter. "Every rep, every early morning, every sacrifice was for this exact moment. Our team respects this conference, but we don't fear it. We're ready. We didn't come here to participate we came to finish the job. We're focused, we're united, and we believe in each other. What we've done so far is only the beginning. Greater is coming."
So far this season the Texans have set 49 new program performance bests and eight school records. In addition, three national records and a new all-time WAC record was also broken during the regular season.
Malak Rashwan broke her school record and Egyptian national record running 8.46 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Lauren Roy broke the school record and the Irish national record in the 200 in 22.96 seconds.
Lokesh Sathyanathan became the first Texan to break the eight-meter barrier indoors with an 8.01-meter leap. His leap also broke the Indian national record as well.
Prestina Ochonogor broke the all-time WAC record she set last year at the WAC Championships with a 6.69-meter leap, also breaking her own school record.
Jacob Thomas has broken his school record in each of his three meets this season. He culminated the indoor season with a 5.19-meter vault. In her first season as a Texan,
Emma Holmes broke the school record in the 400 meters in 53.86 seconds. The Memphis transfer became the first Texan to run sub-55 in the 400 in program history. Freshman

Davi Torres set earlier this season clearing 2.15 meters in the final meet of the regular season.
Ca'terrin Cox broke his school record with a best mark of 7.82 seconds this season in the 60 meter hurdles in his season debut.
Last year, the women's squad earned runners-up status setting a school-record with 148 points while the men finished fourth with an indoor all-time best 86 points. The Texans second-year head coach Bobby Carter is hoping for more this time around in Washington.
The Texans return to the Podium with five defending indoor champions from a season ago. Roy will look to defend her title in the 200 after winning the title in her debut WAC Championship last season.
Victoria Cameron will return to the 60 meters for a chance to repeat after earning a NCAA Indoor Championship bid last season in the event.
Tayler Wessely looks to go back-to-back in the weight throw as well.
Prestina Ochonogor set a new Championships and All-time WAC record last year in her debut as a Texan as well as winning the long jump individual crown.
Sir Jonathan Sims looks to defend his long jump indoor title, although
Lokesh Sathyanathan may have something to say as he won the outdoor title last year.
Tarleton State will continue its post season indoor slate with individuals ranking in the top 16 in each event qualifying for the 2026 NCAA Indoor National Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 13-14.
