STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Golf, the reigning WAC Champions look to defend their title at the 2026 WAC Women's Golf Championship on Monday through Wednesday on the Hills Course at the Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
The Texans were seeded third in the pre-championship rankings and are slated to start teeing off at 8:50 a.m. on Monday. Each day will be a tee time based on their position in the field. The Texans will be using all five golfers in their lineup.
Louise Depadt will be slotted first followed by
Lou Deltombe.
Gina Chen is slated third followed by
Natalia Fiel Ros and
Darianys Guzman.
This will be the second time this season that the Texans will only play one round a day and a three-day event joining the Iguana Invitational in Puerto Rico earlier this year. The field for the WAC in women's golf also consists of Abilene Christian, California Baptist, Southern Utah, UT Arlington, Utah Tech and Utah Valley. There will be no stream for the event, but live results will be provided by Clippd. For the latest updates and highlights follow @tarletonwgolf on Instagram and X.
"We are super excited to compete this week," said head coach
Isabel Jimenez. "The conference championships always brings a great feeling, the team is motivated and ready to put up a good fight within the rest of the teams in the conference."
The Texans won their first WAC Championship last season, and
Louise Depadt claimed the individual crown. The Purple and White won by three strokes shooting an 876, 12-over par. As a team, their best round came on the second day shooting a five-under, 283. Individually, Depadt won over ACU's Ryann Honea by four strokes. Depadt opened with an even par 72 and improved each round. On the second day she shot a 68, capped by a 66 on the final round to take the title, the first by a Texan since joining the WAC in 2020.
This season, the squad has posted a pair of top three team finishes in the spring. The Purple and White opened the spring with a second-place performance at the Texas State Invitational. In their second to last tournament of the regular season, the team posted a third-place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate. The Texans have shot under 900 as a team in three of their five events this spring.
Individually, Depadt has taken a pair of individual titles and posted three top two finishes this spring. She missed all but one invitational in the fall and returned in the spring with a bang by winning the Texas State Invitational in her return to the course. She set the program record for lowest single round with an eight-under 64. She also set a program 54-hole record shooting a 205. This spring in total she has carded nine even or under par rounds.
Deltombe has been the second most consistent golfer for the Texans this season recording six top 20 performances in the spring and fall. Her best performance of the spring came at the Texas State Invitational where she shot a 66 in her first round and finished in ninth place. Freshman Chen placed seventh at the Kalispel Invitational and has notched a pair of top 20 performances.
With a conference title, the Texans will earn back-to-back selections to an NCAA Regional. The 2026 NCAA Regional selection show is on Wednesday, April 29. The regionals will be from May 11-13 at one of six locations. Last year the Texans were sent to Texas Tech, this year the only regional site in the state of Texas is Waco, hosted by Baylor.
