STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Track and Field continues its season with its second of three meets this season at Baylor, this time the Baylor Invitational a one-day meet on Friday at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
The Texans will open the meet with hammer throw, high jump and long jump at 10 a.m. Track events are slated to start at 2 p.m. Results will be live with a link to follow on the website when available. For live updates and highlights follow @tarletontrackxc on X and Instagram.
A pair of Texans earned WAC Athlete of the Week for their performances at the Texas Relays.
Victoria Cameron claimed the first Texas Relays gold medal for the Texans in the Division I era winning the 100 meters. She posted the top time in the NCAA and the third fastest time in the world in 11.01 seconds.
Jalen Cadet also claimed a medal finishing in third in the long jump. Cadet's best leap of 7.66 meters ranks 28th in the NCAA this season.
Including Cameron and Cadet, seven Texans rank within the top 50 in the NCAA in their event.
Ca'terrin Cox ranks 20th in the nation in the 110-meter hurdles clocking in at 13.74 seconds, a new school record he set this season.
Tayler Wessely ranks 29th in the women's hammer throw after a 61.45-meter toss in her opening weekend at ACU.
Sir Jonathan Sims ranks 33rd and Jonathon Rodgers ranks 46th in the NCAA in the men's long jump. Sims' best leap of 15.39 meters came at the Texas Relays, with Rodgers' best leap of 15.23 meters came at the Clyde Hart Classic.
JayBrion Jones ranks 50th in the NCAA in 10.29 seconds in the 100 meters.
In total, nine athletes rank in the top 48 of their events in the West Region which would currently earn a bid to the NCAA West First Rounds hosted by Arkansas at the end of May. In addition to those ranking in the top 50 in the NCAA,
Davi Torres is 33rd in the West in the men's high jump with a best clearance of 2.08 meters.
Jacob Thomas is 46th in the region with a best height of 5.06 meters this season. Rodgers is currently ranked in the top 48 in the region for both long and triple jump with his best long jump of 7.43 meters.
Friday will mark the second of three meets the Texans are slated to compete in at Baylor this season. The Purple and White will head to Waco for the final time April 24-25 to compete in the Michael Johnson Invitational.
Tarleton State will host its only home meet of the season next week April 17-18. The Texans will welcome a variety of schools and athletes across the two days with a senior day presentation at the end of the meet on Saturday.
