Carla Cooper named the Lone Star Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Week after winning the Ashland Desert Invitational in Mesa, Ariz.  The No. 7 TexAnns led after the first day, but Tarleton fell to third after day two and lost by just three strokes.  Cooper shot a 147 on the two days with a 77 on day one followed by a 70 on day two.  She was five strokes better than the two second place finishers at the Longbow Golf Club.  In the previous tournament, Cooper led the TexAnns to the St. Edward’s Invitational title after finishing second place with a two-day total of 149 (75-74).  She led after the first day, but was overtaken on day two to finish second by just one stroke.
