Tarleton State University Athletics

A football and track athlete as a student from 1974-78, Pleasant returned to Tarleton as a graduate assistant in football and track in 1983 and later established himself as an outstanding track coach. He became Head Track &Field Coach in 1984 and was named TIAA Track & Field coach of the year eight times in the ensuing years. During his tenure at Tarleton, Pleasant had eight men’s and six women’s conference championships, three individual national champions, and sixty All Americans. Always conscious of the academic responsibilities of his student-athletes, Pleasant had a graduation rate of 95% during his Tarleton Career.
