Boren was a four-time All-Lone Star Conference selection as a placekicker for the Texans, earning second team honors as a freshman and first team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. The Stephenville native owns the school record for field goals made in a game (5) and ranks second in school history with 17 field goals made in a season, which he set his senior season in 2002. Boren still owns the LSC record with 59 field goals made in a career. During his senior campaign with the Texans, Boren finished third in the LSC in scoring with 90 points, which also ranks tied for third in school history. He earned NCAA All-American honors in 2000 and 2002.
