Givens played in every game as a freshman including the NAIA Division II National Tournament. In his sophomore year he averaged 19.9 points per game, had two double-doubles, lead the team in scoring in 15 games and helped return the team to the national tournament. As a junior Givens averaged 22.2 points per game and scored 40 points in a losing effort in the first round of the National Tournament. He played in 97 consecutive games before breaking a foot and then rebreaking it to miss the next season. As a senior, Givens led the team in scoring 20 out of the 26 games. He is the career scoring leader the Texans with 2,101 points and was the team’s MVP in 1990, 1991 and Co-MVP in 1996.
