Tarleton State University Athletics Hall of Fame
James Dearth was a two-time second team All-American in football and an All-American in the shot put. Drafted in 1996 in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns, Dearth is a 12-year veteran of the National Football League as a deep snapper. While at Tarleton, the former tight end earned All-Lone Star Conference honors, as well as a number of other accolades. Besides being an NFL player, Dearth has found a number of ways to give back to the community, using his morals and faith to impact young peoples’ lives.
