Vickers was a four year letter winner for the Texans, playing at both wide receiver and quarterback. He played solely as a receiver his first two years but split time at quarterback in his junior year. During that period, he was on the receiving end of 48 passes while completing 38. As a senior, Vickers took over as the starting quarterback and set nine individual passing and total offense records. He set a new single season record for total yards with 3,232, passing yards with 3008, pass completions with 189, and touchdown passes with 24. He had a total of 477 yards against Quachita Baptist with 435 of that passing and threw for 7 touchdowns against Southwestern Kansas in his final game of the season. He was awarded the Kiggs Most Valuable Player Award and was selected the team’s Most Valuable Player in his senior year.
